Facilitator PD courses

We would like to support professional development facilitators in designing and implementing subject-related PD courses. For this purpose, it is of central importance that they have knowledge and possibilities for action, which PD contents can be imparted to teachers and how they learn them.

The German Centre for Mathematics Teacher Education therefore researches and develops facilitator preparation courses in which PD facilitators learn or extend practical methods of action, e.g. on the basis of videos from PD courses or in PD simulations. Our facilitator PD courses are based on research findings, in particular on subject-related teaching and learning processes of professional development facilitators within the framework of our PD topics.

Cooperation with persons responsible for qualification

In general, qualification projects are designed and concretely implemented together with ministries or state institutes or other persons responsible for the preparation of PD facilitators in the existing regional PD structures of the individual federal states.

Furthermore, together with the institutions mentioned above, we design, support and accompany large and long-term teaching development projects together with a group of schools.

The concepts for facilitator preparation of the German Centre for Mathematics Teacher Education (DZLM) convince me because they closely link research, practical knowledge and cooperation experience in the field of professionalising mathematics teachers. The DZLM is therefore an indispensable partner for the PD course systems of the federal states. With the support of the DZLM, our mathematics instructions are continuously further developed.
