Series of PD Courses for teachers
Within the existing professional development structures, the German Centre for Mathematics Teacher Education (DZLM) conducts innovative series of teacher PD courses together with those responsible for PD courses from school authorities, district governments or state institutes. These exemplary series of teacher PD courses consist of several days of presence and testing phases in between, which are then reflected upon. A central objective of the DZLM is to gain knowledge for the advancement of PD courses and for the creation of PD materials. This knowledge is incorporated into the development of facilitator preparations in order to ensure that PD facilitators carry out these series of teacher PD courses in the future.
A particularly effective form of teacher PD courses series consists of classroom development projects. In these projects, a group of teachers at a school or a group of educators will support the further development of their (teaching) practice. The German Centre for Mathematics Teacher Education also carries out teaching development projects with networks of schools together with those responsible for PD courses.
